Saturn satellite, the sixth in order of distance from the planet, discovered by astronomer Gian Domenico Cassini in 1684.
Its physical characteristics are better known since the Voyager 2 probe made a close observation. It has a surface characterized by its lunar appearance, but with a much higher Albedo (30 per 100-50 per 100). Its diameter is 1,120 km (approximately one third of that of the Moon).
It is in orbit at a distance of approximately 377,000 km from the planet, making a return every 2.7 days.
