Lick (observatory)

American astronomical observatory founded in 1888 and located in Monte Hamilton, California, at 1,280 m. high, a few kilometers from the city of San José.

Created by a donation from James Lick (1796-1876), the observatory, which is an annex of the University of California, houses a 3 m reflector. in diameter with an objective of almost a meter in diameter.

This last instrument constitutes the largest refractor that exists in the world.
