The Earth is considered as a physical system, so that all its phenomena are investigated and decomposed into physical and chemical aspects to arrive at a better understanding of its structure, its exact composition and its evolution throughout geological history.
The sciences or branches that are dedicated to the description and understanding of our planet, study all their processes in order to understand them better and determine their evolution.
The human being, since its appearance, has the need to understand the environmental phenomena that surround it. The need to perform extractions of metallic minerals for the realization of utensils (tools, machines, weapons ...), are indispensable in the development of civilizations.
On the other hand, the observations of atmospheric phenomena and the knowledge of their variations are of great importance in the beginnings of human life; and the eagerness to find and take advantage of the water resources provided by nature (rivers and groundwater), allows the establishment of civilizations in previously inhospitable places.
These three aspects, geological, atmospheric, hydrological and biological are the aspects that currently group all the disciplines that constitute the Earth sciences. Such aspects are studied respectively by Geology, Meteorology, Hydrology and Biology.
