The atmosphere of Uranus is composed of 83% hydrogen, 2% methane and small amounts of acetylene and other hydrocarbons. Methane located in the upper part of the atmosphere absorbs red light, giving Uranus its bluish green color.
Uranus has an average density of 1.3 grams per cubic centimeter.
Its magnetic field indicates that it probably has a fairly small solid core. It could also have an ocean of water and ammonia under immense pressure, between the core and the atmosphere.
