The atmosphere is the gaseous envelope that surrounds the solid body of the planet. Although it has a thickness of more than 1,100 km, approximately half of its mass is concentrated in the lowest 5.6 km.
The Earth is a planet endowed with a rich atmosphere, to which we owe the birth and development of life. Interacting with solar radiation, it is also the basis of all the meteorological processes that characterize our planet. Seen from space, the Earth is presented as a planet of an intense blue color, precisely by virtue of its atmospheric layer and the fact that two thirds of its surface is covered by water.
Often, vast areas of its surface are covered with imposing cloud systems that are formed by the evaporation of water, thanks to which the atmospheric circulation system that characterizes the different seasons of the year is not finished.
